New shoes are just a craft project away!

Cheap designer shoes? Is that even possible?

When you think designer, you think expensive but it is possible to get cheap designer shoes. Just ask Steph!

Shoe Envy fan Steph had always wanted metallic turquoise shoes. The opportunity presented itself in an unexpected way when she realised her white Minx shoes had a black mark on them.

Minx by Shoe Envy was originally white

The shoes were brand new and it seemed a terrible waste to just throw them away, so she decided to make a craft project out of them instead.

“I thought it was such a pity to have a pair of shoes that couldn’t be worn,” Steph said.

“So I bought some metallic turquoise leather paint and painted over the mark!”

 How did she do it?

Ever-careful Steph laid out old newspaper to protect her working surface and taped the shoes with masking tape to cover any areas she didn’t want to paint.

This was a smart move because even with a super-steady hand, it’s not easy to ensure you paint a perfect line where two materials meet.

Two coats later, she had a new pair of metallic turquoise shoes!

The result?

“They’re one of my favourite shoes now,” Steph said of her excellent handiwork.

But not content with just having brand new shoes, Steph decided to make a matching accessory.

“I went ahead and painted a clutch to match from the leftover paint…”

Of course she did. What a legend!
